Matt Shanor-Budding Asheville Artist
When Matt was a guitar student of Johnny's ten years ago he was part of an up and coming group of young faith-inspired Asheville musicians aspiring to make an impact on the 'younger generation' with their music. With the encouragement of church leadership they forged ahead initially as a youth band out of Mountain Vintage Fellowship (Arden, NC) ministering in their own fellowship first and then began to be involved in outreach beyond their church doors.
The other two notables in this were the brothers Steven and Tim Scroggs (see their own "Student Spotlight" write-up). All three of these young men also grew into contemporary corporate worship leaders in their church and Matt and Steven found themselves taking worship leader positions in new church plants out of state- Steven moving to South Carolina and Matt moving to Tennessee - while Tim stayed at the 'home church' and led there.
Matt worked to get the worship going in the Tennessee church and ended up returning to Asheville where he began to develop his own material and worked as a worship leader for King of Glory church (Swannonoa, NC). While there he began recording his material utillizing studio time in England thru church contacts there.
This culminated in the CD release of "Face to Face" in May of 2009.
